--Le Grand Robert launches online dictionary version

8 April 2011 - French publisher Editions Le Robert, which publishes language dictionary Le Grand Robert, announced yesterday that a new online version of the dictionary is now available.
The initiative is meant to celebrate the company's 60th anniversary.

The new version features 1,500 additional words compared to the previous one, which was launched in 2001, as well as additional quotations from contemporary authors.

By paying a yearly subscription of EUR48 (USD70), users will be able to access the dictionary from any kind of digital support.

The current demand is not sufficient to finance a new paper version of the dictionary, according to Marianne Durand, Le Robert's managing director in charge of dictionaries.

Digital business currently accounts for 10% of Editions Le Robert's total revenue. This share may increase to 25% in the mid- term.
