NSW: man charged over 17-year-old murder

SYDNEY, Dec 5 AAP - Homicide detectives will seek the extradition of a man arrested
in Tasmania over an unsolved murder in inner Sydney 17 years ago.

NSW unsolved homicide detectives and Tasmanian police arrested a 45-year-old man at
9pm on Thursday at Launceston Police Station.

He was was interviewed and charged with the murder of 27-year-old Felipe Flores who
was found at a wharf near Lincoln Crescent and Mrs Macquaries Chair, Woolloomooloo, about
3am on Monday September 2, 1991.

He had sustained severe head injuries and was found partially clothed.

Mr Flores was last seen leaving the Exchange Hotel on Oxford St, Darlinghurst, about
2am that day.

The 45-year-old man has been refused bail to appear at Launceston Magistrates Court
on Friday where NSW detectives will apply for his extradition to Sydney.
